Hiroshige, Utagawa. "Shono" aus den "53 Stationen des Tokaido". Ukiyo-e Farbholzschnitt auf Papier. Bildgröße: 22,2 x 34,5 cm. Mit Passepartout unter Glas in versilberter Holzleiste gerahmt. Edo (Tokio) nach 1834.
Das Bild der 45. Station "Shono" mit der berühmten Szene im strömenden Regen (hakuu) und den im Hintergrund sich im Sturm beugenden Baum-Silhouetten. Links das Verlegersiegel: "Hoeido han" und dem "Kiwame", dem Siegel ("Geprüft") der Zensur, das von 1791 bis 1842 in Gebrauch war.
Möglicherweise handelt es sich um einen gering späteren Druck des bedeutenden Blattes auf Velinpapier. – Etwas stärker gebräunt, teils mit Einrissen im Rand und Passepartoutspuren.

Mounted under passepartout. Station 45 “Shono” with the famous scene in pouring rain (hakuu) with the tree silhouettes bent by the storm. Left the printers mark "Hoeido han" and the "Kiwame" the seal ("approved”) by the censor, that was used between 1791 and 1842. – Verso stamped, with small wormhole and wormtraces, backed and thoroughly retouched. Margins minimally damaged, creased and stained, the image fresh, well conserved in subtly nuanced in print. Included 11 other colour wood cuts.
